Custom Dye Service Add On

Custom Dye Service Add On

from $135.00

This service is only available for pre-approved items. If you haven’t already feel free to send us an email about any custom dye inquiries. Dye service may take up to 4 weeks to complete when added to an existing/made item .

Choose in the menu from the following options:

Whole Gown Dye: We take your gown as one unit and submerge it in dye. This will result in a solid color finish, unless there is lace or different multiple fiber composition in the gown (which may dye lighter or darker depending on the fiber). Please enter a Pantone code at the checkout. If you don’t know what the heck Pantone is, go to this site, and look up a shade that is close to what you are thinking and send us the number. We also recommend that you send us a tiny swatch of something in the color you’d like for better accuracy. If your gown has lace (particularly just on the bodice) you may wish to consider making it into separates first then dying, if you want to avoid a potential two-toned effect.

Bottom Dip Gradient Dye: We simply dip the bottom of your gown and do a smooth transition fading back to ivory/original color on the top.

Top Color Gradient Dye: We remove the bodice to get it a deeper shade, and then dip the top part of the gown and skirt to fade to ivory/original color on the bottom, and then rejoin together.

2-color Ombre - choose 2 different colors (pantone shades) and specify direction (ex: blue on top/green on bottom, etc)

Custom Multi-Color Ombre: Choose up to 4 different Pantone shades, and specify particular lay-out, order of colors and/or style. *Reference photos are needed for this option.

Custom Water-color Paint multi-colors - A hand-painted watercolor effect in up to 5 different colors and layout of your choosing.

By Purchasing this service you are aware of the risks involved in dying, and release Leanne Marshall Inc from any liability or claims.

Risks to be aware of:

  • If there are multiple materials on your gown, there will be variances in how much the dye will saturate that material. This may include zippers, and thread.

  • Laces in particular do not absorb dyes as readily, and will most likely appear lighter than the rest of the material on the dress.

  • Textural material changes - After submerging in the dye bath materials will usually take on surface changes, making them appear slightly crinkled, sueded, or otherwise textured.

  • We recommend sticking with lighter shades. (Ex: no black or navy or deep hues.)

  • Streaking, color spotting, inconsistent areas of color are common

  • Shrinkage or growth - Generally, a bodice will not shrink or grow, but skirts may constrict up or hang slightly longer than before. We will steam the gown after the dye to hopefully eliminate some of this, but the gown may be longer or shorter after the dye process.

  • Colors may dye up to 15% different than target.

  • Dye service takes about 3-4 weeks to perform on average. This may be longer or shorter depending on the volume of the particular season.
