Custom Color
If you have a specific color or effect in mind for your gown that we don’t currently have in our current collection, we can create it for you through either custom dyeing or custom printing. If you are very specific about certain shades and effects then we will always recommend that you opt for custom printing over hand-dyeing methods (which are a bit more unpredictable).
Custom Hand-Dyeing
We do a lot of hand-dyeing of our gowns, which may involve various different techniques and types of dye.
If considering Hand-dye, please expect the following:
Irregularies in the form of dye unevenness, color splotches, dark pigmentation dots, random splotches, etc. These are always present in some form and there is no way to completely eliminate that risk.
Achieving the exact target or a specific shade is very difficult, and so you should expect a level of tolerance or variation from the intended target. If you need an exact shade, we recommend printing.
We cannot hand-write, or achieve sharp clean lines or specific shapes with the dye.
For Hand-dyeing we recommend dyeing on silk organzas for better colorfastness. We can hand-dye other silks such as chiffon or gazaar, but do expect more asymmetry, irregularies and less intense hues.
Always when hand-dyeing the fabric will be left with some slight wrinkling and creases. We iron these out as much as possible, but there will likely still remain faint texture where the creasing occurred when the fabric was dyed.
There needs to be a level of creative license given for this process, and you will need to be okay with not fully being able to visualize the final effect until the gown is complete. If you are nervous about this aspect, then we recommend digital printing.
CUSTOM DIGITAL PRINTING
This is the best option for accuracy if you are seeking very specific colors, effects, precision and symmetry. See examples of various digital prints we have done below. The sky is the limit when going the digital printing route.
If considering Digital Printing:
Any material is possible: Silk chiffon, organza, gazaar, charmeuse, etc.
We can either use an existing print we have and slightly modify it, or we can create a custom engineered print.
There will tend to be a front-side and a back-side of the material where the print will appear slightly darker. This is less apparent on lighter weight silks, but may be more pronounced on thicker silks and is only a concern with those, and when using designs that require showing both sides of the fabric.
There are sometimes small irregularities that may occur in the printing process, but they are far less common than in hand-dyeing.
